Fortinet storage modules extend the capabilities of FortiGate multi-threat security systems by enabling local storage for system and security event logging. The modules also enable the WAN optimization feature found in FortiOS 4.0 software, which works to accelerate applications commonly affected by slower network connections.

The ASM-SAS module is a single-width AdvancedMC™ (AMC) form-factor option that enables external Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) or Serial ATA (SATA) storage systems to work seamlessly with supported FortiGate platforms. The ASM-SAS module features two (2) external IB-SAS connectors that provide four (4) ports per connector.

The ASM-S08 module is a single-width AMC form-factor option that adds all-in-one internal storage to supported FortiGate platforms. The ASM-S08 features a 80GB commercial-grade hard disk drive.
