Hardware Troubleshooting Engineer Job Code: CAOP124
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnose defective product and repair to good condition.
- Inspect AC/DC characteristic on a device under test (DUT) by using multimeter, oscilloscope, AC/DC programmable source.
- Review schematics and layout of SUT and check possible defects on DUT.
- Duplicate the dynamic symptom by simulating basic applications that involve L2 and L3 switch, firewall.
- Identify any failure trends and issue Root Cause analysis and Corrective Action request.
- Perform reliability tests to locate the failure that may be induced by environmental change, power surge or physical movement.
- Carry out any existing rework action to recover the functionality of RMA product.
- Work with engineering teams to prove the resolution on any hardware defect.
- Propose changes to any production testing process and testing equipment improvements
- Ensure all RMA cases are verified, resolved and closed as outlined in Fortinet Quality System procedures
- Assist corrective action and rework plan to fix the problem on existing products
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-5 years working experience in all activities for hardware trouble shooting
- Good computer skills with MS office software for data entry and report documentation
- Experience in an electronic Design and Manufacturing environment would be a definite asset
- Knowledge of general QA procedures and methodologies
- Network background with trouble shooting experience
- Able to work independently
- Motivated and assertive in learning and taking ownership of projects
Educational Requirements:
- A university degree with discipline in electronic and computer system.
- Fluent in English

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Setup test environment in order to bring up specific device under test (DUT).
• Perform test cases to verify system functionality, HW specification and networking performance.
• Perform environmental reliability or regulatory tests on equipment such as thermal, vibration, shock and humidity testing.
• Review PCB schematics, mechanical drawing and system BOM to help identify possible design issues.
• Generate reports documenting test results, non-conformances, and suggest methods to address non-conformances.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in networking equipment design, validation or field application support
• Experience in industry standard or protocols, such as IEEE802.3x, internet RFC, NEBS, FCC, UL and CE
• Experience in product development work flow in a NPI process.
• Experience in running script, debugging tool in order to use auto-testing for verification
• Experience installing test equipment, setting up a LAN that involves servers, switch and router
• Good hardware trouble shooting skills with practice on typical instruments
• Ability to work independently
Educational Requirements:
• Engineering degree focused on electrical, mechanical, systems engineering or equivalent experience
• Certificates to demonstrate the qualification in the job area or related industry will be a highly desired
